Close To My Heart Announces the 2011 List of Retiring Products

Believe it or not, it's that time again -- time for Close To My Heart to announce their list of retiring items. If you're a fan of Close To My Heart, you know that each and every year a series of products are selected to 'retire' and are removed from manufacturing and become available while supplies last only -- but I'm sure that even as a die hard fan you'll be surprised to see what is on this year's list. Why will you be surprised? Well, believe it or not....

The 2011 Close To My Heart retiring list is 9 pages long and it includes ALL of the current papers (including those released in Summer 2010), many recently released stamps, plenty of old My Acrylix favourites, loads of accessories and embellishments, and ALL 6x6 and 9x9 albums and memory protectors.  Also included are ALL linen 12x12 albums too!

If you're like me, you might be wondering what the heck is up?

Well, for 2011, Close To My Heart has some big changes in store.

I'm not going to let all the cats out of the bag so to speak but what can you expect for 2011?

• 12x12 linen albums will be replaced with faux leather (effective September 2010)
• with a move to 2 Idea books per year (compared to the current 3), you'll see more NEW product with each Idea Book release
• going forward, all items will be quicker to retire, perhaps surviving only one or two Idea Book cycles - but with longer Idea Book 'life' you'll have at least six full months to peruse and choose the kits/stamps you like the best

This larger than normal list of retiring items is a one-time preparatory step to get us ready for all the great stuff coming for 2011 and beyond.

But remember, the products on the 2011 retiring list are available only while supplies last - so be sure to shop early and often to ensure maximum product availability.

Celebrate National Scrapbooking Month with a "Miracle"

Did you know that May is National Scrapbooking Month?  Well it's true - and this year I'm determined to celebrate.  For what seems like eons, I haven't had a lot of free time to play with paper and stamps, but I've made a comittment that that is all going to change in May.

Enabling (ahem....I mean helping) me on this one Close To My Heart has put together an absolutely fabulous kit called "Miracle" that I just can't wait to get my hands on.  The kit features spring-inspired colours and floral patterns and comes with complete instructions to "miraculously" assemble both of these 2 page layouts and would you believe this - no stamping is required!

True Friends CTMH January Stamp of the Month

So it's been what seems like eons since I sat down to make cards - but over the New Year's holiday, I did just that.  Now I have to admit that I didn't quite know where to start, so I figured I would keep it simple.

I grabbed my leftovers from the recently retired CTMH Life Delights paper pack, coordinating My Stickease, one colour of ink (Chocolate), the brand new True Friends stamp set, some Just Blooms paper flowers and a handful of brads and got to work.

I must say that overall I'm pretty pleased with what I came up with.  True Friends was really fun to work with.  It's a collection of four decorative frames, 3 curly brackets and a few 'friendship' sentiments that make for some pretty nice card elements I must say.  Don't forget though that they would work equally well as a journaling spot or embellishment bases on a scrapbook page also, and I can't wait to put them to use there.

Here are my cards.  The first 2 are 8 x 3.5 inches - a size I just love because they fit in a standard envelope.  They utilize the same basic design structure, but one is rotated 90 degrees.

The next 2 are 4.5 inches square - again using the same basic design with a simple rotation.

And finally, the last 2 cards which are standard 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Aren't they sweet?
