Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions when crafters are considering joining my Close To My Heart team. If you have a question that is not answered below, don't hesitate to contact me and we can discuss it.
As a CTMH Independent Consultant do I need to stock product?
No! In fact, carrying inventory is discouraged. Your customers simply shop from the Idea Book and you place the order on their behalf.
How do I Get paid?
When you place your customer's order, you submit the order total less your 22% discount to Close To My Heart. This means that you are instantly earning a 22% commission on every order placed. Additionally, Close To My Heart keeps track of your monthly sales and at various volume levels you will qualify for additional income that we call 'override' commissions. These override commissions are deposited directly to your bank account or sent to you in cheque form within 15 days following month end. To see complete earnings detail click here.
Do I need to recruit?
No, building and maintaining a team is not mandatory, but by doing so you are building a business. Once you start team building, you'll receive financial rewards based on the success of your team in addition to the base and override commissions you earn on your personal sales. Building a team can also be an extremely rewarding experience.
But, I'm not creative, where will I find project ideas?
While being creative can be helpful, it is not mandatory. Close To My Heart makes countless resources available to their Consultants for just this purpose. There is the tri-annual Idea Book, Key Notes (the consultant only Newsletter), a Consultant only artwork and business message board where consultant share project and business ideas as well as an online on-demand Training Academy that includes both business and creative courses. There are even regional corporate sponsored events, and an annual convention that you may opt to attend. You can also get inspiration from various other sources online and in print. Inspiration is truly everywhere!
What are the minimum sales requirements?
To be considered an 'active' Consultant, you must maintain a minimum of $350 in commissionable sales per calendar quarter. Trust me, this is a cinch. By doing just one Home Gathering a month, you are likely to exceed this minimum by a mile, and your commissionable sales also include e-commerce orders placed through your myctmh website if you opt to subscribe to one. Sales minimums are not enforced in the quarter you join Close To My Heart. If for some reason you do not reach the $350 minimum in any calendar quarter you will remain a Consultant but drop to 'Junior' status. Do I need to pay an Annual Renewal Fee?
No! Once you have filed your kit application and so long as you continue to maintain the quarterly sales minimum of $350 there are no additional fees. Even if you drop to Junior status, you need simply place one order of any amount per calendar year to maintain it. There are no renewal fees ever.
What happens after I submit my Consultant application?
As soon as your Consultant application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email that contains a user name and password for accessing the Online Office. Here you will find the CTMH Training Academy, Online Order System, Newsletter Archives, Message Boards, the Consultant Manual and much more. {Be sure to stop into the Message Board and introduce yourself!} 7-10 days later, you will receive your Consultant Kit in the mail which contains all of the business and creative materials you will need to hit the ground running and start building a successful business.
How Do I Sign Up?
That's the easy part. You need to simply click here to access the Consultant Application. Complete it at your own leisure and click 'Submit'; but it only takes about 5 minutes so why not do it right away? Then as I mentioned you'll receive your confirmation email immediately and the your Consultant Kit 7-10 days later.
